Project overview

Our Hendersonville team completed a dedicated Level 2 EV charging circuit for homeowner Aaron Dishman in Asheville, NC. The installation was designed for a 60-amp load to support high-performance Level 2 chargers and future vehicle upgrades, all while meeting local electrical code and utility rebate requirements.

  • Installed a new 60A breaker in the home’s electrical panel
  • Routed approximately 50 ft of 3/4 in EMT conduit for a clean, durable surface run in the garage
  • Pulled #6 THHN conductors sized for a 60-amp EV circuit
  • Dedicated branch circuit for a customer-supplied Level 2 EV charger
  • Electrical permit filed and inspection-ready
  • Documentation prepared to be Duke Energy rebate ready

Why a 60A Level 2 circuit?

A 60-amp Level 2 circuit offers faster home charging and room to grow. Many premium Level 2 EVSE units are designed to deliver up to 48A continuous charging (on a 60A breaker), reducing charge times and supporting multi-EV households or longer daily commutes.

  • Faster charging: Significantly cuts overnight charge time vs. lower-amp circuits
  • Future-ready: Supports higher-output chargers and newer EV models
  • Code-conscious: Proper conductor sizing and overcurrent protection for long-term safety

How we completed the installation

  • Assessment & layout: Confirmed panel capacity and mapped out a neat, low-profile conduit path in the garage.
  • Permitting: Filed the electrical permit with the local authority to ensure compliant installation and smooth inspection.
  • Conduit & wiring: Mounted 3/4 in EMT with appropriate fittings and supports, then pulled #6 THHN conductors to the charger location.
  • Panel work: Installed and labeled a new 60A breaker dedicated to the EV circuit.
  • Testing: Verified polarity, grounding, breaker operation, and EVSE functionality to confirm safe, reliable operation.
  • Inspection-ready: Prepared the job for final inspection and homeowner documentation.

The result is a clean, professional garage installation that blends into the space while delivering robust charging performance.
