60-Amp Level 2 EV Charger Installation in Anderson, SC

Touchstone Electric completed a Level 2 EV charger installation for Jacob Morrison in Anderson, SC. Our Greenville branch team, Frank Fragale and Tyler Harris, installed the homeowner-supplied EV charger in the garage, positioning it to the right of the existing electrical panel for a clean and convenient charging setup.

A dedicated Level 2 charging circuit can provide a practical at-home solution for electric vehicle owners who want dependable charging without relying solely on public charging stations. Proper circuit sizing, breaker selection, wiring, and installation methods are important for supporting the charger’s electrical requirements and helping ensure the system is installed correctly.

Dedicated 60-Amp Circuit for Garage EV Charging

This Anderson EV charging project included the installation of a dedicated 60-amp breaker in a Square D QO electrical panel. The new circuit was run using #6 SEU wiring and connected to the customer-supplied charger, which included a built-in whip for hardwired installation.

  • Installation of a customer-supplied Level 2 EV charger
  • New 60-amp standard breaker for the EV charging circuit
  • Approximately eight feet of #6 SEU wiring
  • Hardwired connection using the charger’s built-in whip
  • Garage-mounted charger location to the right of the electrical panel
  • Electrical permit filing with the county

By locating the charger near the panel, the installation was able to use a direct wiring route while keeping the equipment accessible in the garage. Every home and electrical system is different, so the right breaker size, conductor type, routing, and connection method should always be determined for the specific charger and installation conditions.

Electrical Permit Filing Included

Touchstone Electric filed the electrical permit for this completed EV charger installation. Electrical permits help document qualifying electrical work with the applicable jurisdiction. Requirements can vary by location and by the scope of a project.

This project included the electrical permit only. If a property requires additional non-electrical approvals, such as zoning, historic preservation, environmental, septic, builder, or other specialized permits, those requirements may need separate handling. Our team can help clarify the electrical portion of the work and discuss any additional permitting needs identified for a project.

Professional EV Charger Installation for Anderson Homeowners

Installing a Level 2 EV charger is more involved than simply mounting charging equipment on a wall. It may require a dedicated circuit, appropriately sized breaker, correct wiring, safe termination, and permit coordination. Working with a qualified electrical contractor helps homeowners prepare their garage or other designated parking area for routine EV charging.

Whether you already have a charger selected or need help understanding the electrical requirements for a future installation, Touchstone Electric provides EV charging solutions for homeowners in Anderson and the surrounding service area. Our electricians can assess the existing electrical panel, review charger requirements, and recommend an installation approach based on the home’s layout and electrical capacity.
