Touchstone Electric’s Raleigh branch completed a permitted Level 2 EV charger installation for Duke Energy - Allumia in Goldsboro, NC. On October 1, 2025, our lead electrician, Cody Perry, delivered a clean, code-compliant setup that provides faster, reliable at‑home charging while meeting utility and permitting requirements.

This project included a new dedicated 60-amp circuit, GFCI protection, and weather-resistant materials selected to match the installation environment. We also supported the customer with the Duke Energy program requirements so they could take advantage of available rebates after the installation.

What We Installed

  • 60A GFCI breaker at the service panel to provide the ground-fault protection required for EV charging circuits.
  • 40 ft of UF #6/2 cable, rated for direct burial and tough exterior conditions, ensuring a durable feeder run to the charging location.
  • 3/4" liquidtight flexible conduit with proper fittings for protected, weather-resistant terminations and transitions.
  • Customer-supplied Level 2 EV charger connected per manufacturer specifications for safe, efficient operation.

Every component was selected and installed to meet current electrical code and manufacturer requirements, providing a reliable charging solution that’s built to last.

Permit Handling and Duke Energy Rebate Support

As part of this Goldsboro project, our team coordinated the required permit and prepared the installation for local inspection. We also assisted with the documentation needed for the Duke Energy rebate, helping streamline the customer’s post-install submission process.
