Level 2 EV Charger Installation in Fort Mill, SC

Touchstone Electric’s Charlotte team (based in Matthews) completed a professional Level 2 EV charger installation in Fort Mill, SC for Duke Energy - Allumia. Led by technician Clay Barnette, this project was finished on March 17, 2025 and designed to meet local code and Duke Energy rebate program requirements.

Our goal was to deliver a dependable, safe, and rebate-ready charging solution that integrates cleanly with the home’s electrical system while providing fast, convenient 240V charging for the customer’s EV.

What We Installed

  • Dedicated 50-amp, 240V circuit from the main electrical panel for reliable Level 2 charging capacity.
  • 50A GFCI breaker to enhance protection and align with current safety standards for EV charging circuits.
  • 6/3 NM-B copper wiring routed neatly and securely for a robust, properly sized feeder to the EVSE.
  • 3/4-inch PVC conduit used for exposed and transition sections, complete with fittings and supports for a tidy finish.
  • Customer-supplied Level 2 EVSE installed and integrated with the new circuit during the same visit.
  • Licensed electrician + wireman support on site to ensure an efficient, high-quality installation.
  • Permitting and inspection coordination to document compliance for the Duke Energy rebate program.

Every component was selected and configured to deliver safe performance and a clean appearance, with attention to future serviceability and inspection requirements.

Safe, Code-Compliant, and Rebate-Ready

We follow best practices for EV charging circuits in Fort Mill, including correct conductor sizing, GFCI protection, and proper support and termination of wiring in conduit where required. Our team obtained the necessary permit and coordinated inspection so the customer has the documentation needed to pursue available utility incentives. While program terms can change, we ensure the installation is ready for submission under the current Duke Energy rebate guidelines.

Benefits of a Dedicated Level 2 Charger

  • Faster charging compared to standard 120V outlets—ideal for daily drivers and multi-vehicle homes.
  • Greater reliability with a dedicated 240V circuit and appropriately rated overcurrent protection.
  • Convenience of charging at home overnight with consistent performance.
  • Resale appeal as EV-ready upgrades become more desirable in the Fort Mill housing market.
