Level 2 EV Charger Installation in Concord, NC

Our Charlotte branch, based in Matthews, completed a professional Level 2 EV charger installation for a customer in Concord, NC. Led by technician Christian Cedillos, this project delivered a safe, code-compliant 50-amp circuit dedicated to EV charging for Duke Energy - Allumia. Completed on December 19, 2024, the installation was fully permitted and configured for reliable daily charging.

What We Installed

  • Dedicated 50A GFCI breaker for EV charging safety and code compliance.
  • 1" PVC conduit (approximately 30 feet) with secure supports, connectors, and LBs for a neat, durable run.
  • #6 THHN conductors pulled through the conduit to handle higher loads typical of Level 2 EV charging.
  • Labeling and verification of proper voltage, polarity, and GFCI operation at the new circuit.
  • Permitting handled with the county to ensure a compliant installation from start to finish.

This configuration supports most Level 2 EVSE units, delivering faster home charging with dependable overcurrent and ground-fault protection.

Permitting and Code Compliance

Touchstone Electric filed the electrical permit for this project, aligning the installation with applicable local codes. Please note: every jurisdiction can require different permits for certain work (such as Historic Preservation, Environmental/Septic, Zoning, or Builder-related permits). The permit we include covers the electrical portion only. If non-electrical permits are required for a specific property, we will advise on next steps and can provide pricing to assist with processing those items as needed.
