Our Raleigh branch completed a professional Level 2 EV charger installation for Duke Energy - Allumia in Cary, NC. Led by technician Cody Perry, this project delivered a dedicated 240V, 60-amp circuit designed for reliable, rebate-ready charging performance. Completed on February 6, 2026, the work followed local code requirements and utility program guidelines to support a smooth permitting and inspection process.

What we installed

To support a modern Level 2 EV charger, our team added the components and wiring needed for safe, consistent power delivery. The charger equipment was customer-supplied, and we completed the final connection per manufacturer specifications.

New 60A two-pole breaker added to the home’s electrical panel for a dedicated EV circuit.
THHN #6 copper conductors pulled for the 60-amp feeder to reduce voltage drop and support continuous charging loads.
3/4 in. PVC conduit installed with appropriate fittings and supports for a clean, code-compliant run.
Proper terminations, torqueing, and panel labeling for clarity and future service.
Permit obtained and installation completed to meet local code and utility program standards.

This 60A circuit is ideal for many Level 2 EV chargers, which commonly deliver up to 48A continuous output (dependent on the charger model and settings). The result is faster, more dependable charging compared to standard 120V options.

Duke Energy rebate-ready installation

As part of this Cary project, Touchstone Electric prepared the installation to align with Duke Energy rebate requirements. Our team handled the permitting, documentation on installed materials, and ensured the circuit design and workmanship support utility program submission.
