Touchstone Electric’s Charlotte branch (based in Matthews) completed a Level 2 EV charger installation for Jeff Cupstid in Davidson, NC. On September 30, 2025, our technician Mark Viktorovich extended an existing EV charging circuit and connected the customer-supplied Level 2 charger at a new, convenient location. We also mounted and connected several customer-supplied light fixtures during the same visit. An electrical permit was pulled for the work.
Scope of work and materials
- Level 2 EV charger connection: Hooked up the customer-supplied unit at the designated charging spot, following manufacturer guidance.
- Circuit extension from existing EV outlet: Performed a code-compliant splice and ran a new branch to the charger’s final location.
- 6/2 NM-B Romex (approx. 10 ft): Heavy-duty cable suitable for 50-amp circuits to support high-power equipment such as Level 2 EV charging.
- Fixture installations (3 total): Mounted customer-supplied, simple fixtures (ceiling fan/light) on existing boxes and circuits.
- Electrical permitting: Filed the electrical permit with the county for this installation.
This approach delivered a clean, reliable charging point without adding a brand-new circuit, while keeping the charger accessible and ready for daily use.
Permitting, compliance, and what’s included
We pulled an electrical permit and performed the work to local code standards. The EV charger connection included the final hook-up of the customer’s unit and the wiring extension needed to reach the new location. The fixture work covered installation on existing boxes and circuits.
Permit note: The permit included for this project is specifically the electrical permit. Every jurisdiction has its own requirements; if non-electrical permits are needed (such as Historic Preservation, Environmental/Septic, Zoning, separate subcontractor or building permits), those are not included. If additional permits are required, we’ll advise you on what needs to be filed and can provide pricing if you’d like us to process those on your behalf.
