Level 2 EV Charger Installation in Mountain Home
Our Asheville team completed a Level 2 EV charger installation and whole-home surge protection for homeowner Jose Contreras in Mountain Home on June 9, 2026. This project delivered safe, reliable home charging on a dedicated 240V circuit and added an extra layer of protection for the home’s sensitive electronics and appliances.
What we installed
- Customer-supplied Level 2 EV charger professionally mounted and connected.
- Dedicated 240V, 50-amp circuit designed specifically for Level 2 charging.
- 50A standard breaker added at the panel for overcurrent protection.
- Approximately 55 ft of 6/3 NM-B cable routed cleanly from the panel to the charger location.
- Whole-home surge protector installed at the main electrical panel.
- Electrical permit filed with the county for code-compliant installation.
- Final checks, function testing, and labeling for a neat, code-compliant finish.
While our Appliance Installation service covers installing customer-supplied equipment, Level 2 EV charging typically requires additional electrical work. For this Mountain Home project, we provided the 50A breaker, ran new 6/3 NM-B feeder, and handled the electrical permit to ensure a safe, compliant setup.
Permitting and code compliance
Touchstone Electric filed the electrical permit with the county so the work meets local code. Some jurisdictions may require non-electrical permits (such as zoning, historic preservation, or environmental approvals) depending on the property and scope. Those non-electrical permits are not included by default; if they are needed, we’ll advise you on next steps and provide pricing for any additional processing upon request.
Why choose Level 2 charging
Level 2 EV charging is the sweet spot for most homeowners—it’s significantly faster than a standard 120V outlet and far more convenient than relying solely on public stations. A dedicated 50-amp, 240V circuit helps ensure safe operation, consistent performance, and compatibility with today’s common home EV chargers.
Whole-home surge protection installed
We installed a panel-mounted surge protection device to help safeguard the home’s electrical system from voltage spikes caused by lightning activity, utility grid fluctuations, or large appliances cycling on and off. The device diverts excess voltage to ground, helping protect connected circuits and extend the lifespan of electronics and appliances.
- Coverage: $10,000, 3-year warranty for Covered Equipment when protected with a properly connected Boltshield SPD.

- Exclusions: security systems and medical equipment are not included. Claims are secondary to your existing insurance policy and direct lightning strikes are excluded.
