Touchstone Electric’s Charlotte branch completed a professional Level 2 EV charger installation for Duke Energy - Allumia in Charlotte, NC, on December 29, 2025. Led by Chris Rogers and supported by an electrical apprentice, our Matthews-based team delivered a code-compliant setup designed for fast, reliable home charging.
This project centered on installing a dedicated 50-amp circuit with a NEMA 14-50 outlet, providing the flexibility to plug in a customer-supplied EV charging unit and enjoy significantly faster charging than a standard 120V outlet.
What We Installed
- Dedicated 50-amp circuit with a GE breaker for robust Level 2 charging performance.
- Approximately 80 feet of 6/3 NM-B wire routed cleanly to the charging location for a safe, dependable 240V supply.
- NEMA 14-50 receptacle to accommodate a wide range of EV chargers and portable EVSE cords.
- Professional workmanship with careful routing, secure terminations, panel labeling, and full functional testing.
- Assistance from an electrical apprentice to ensure an efficient, two-person installation and tidy finish.
Every component was selected and installed to meet current electrical standards and local code requirements, helping ensure long-term safety, reliability, and performance.
