Level 2 EV Charger Installation in Cary with Duke Energy Rebate Support
Touchstone Electric’s Raleigh branch completed a turnkey Level 2 EV charger installation in Cary, North Carolina. On July 29, 2026, our licensed electricians, Gray Gorrell and Brad Williams, installed a dedicated 60-amp 240V circuit and commissioned a customer-supplied charger for reliable, fast home charging.
This project for Duke Energy - Allumia included permitting, code-compliant wiring, and end-to-end assistance with Duke Energy rebate documentation—so the homeowner could enjoy a smooth experience from start to finish.
Project Overview
We designed and installed a dedicated circuit to safely power a Level 2 charger, ensuring dependable performance and room for future vehicle needs. Our Raleigh-based team handled every step, from planning and permitting to final testing and walkthrough.
- Dedicated 60A circuit: Installed a new 60-amp breaker to supply a high-capacity 240V line for Level 2 charging.
- Professional conduit routing: Neat, secure runs of EMT conduit to protect conductors and maintain a clean look.
- Correct wire sizing: #6 AWG conductors (THHN in conduit and SEU where appropriate) to support the circuit rating and distance.
- Charger hookup: Proper hardwiring or receptacle connection per the manufacturer’s specifications.
- Labeling and testing: Panel labeling, torque verification, and full operational testing to confirm safe, reliable charging.
Permitting, Code Compliance, and Inspection
We secured the required Duke Energy permitting for this Cary installation and completed all work to current electrical code. Our process includes verifying panel capacity, calculating load as needed, using listed components, maintaining working clearances, and ensuring proper GFCI and bonding where applicable. When everything is ready, we coordinate inspection so the project closes cleanly and on time.
