Project overview
On May 28, 2026, our Charlotte team, operating from the Matthews branch, completed a professional Level 2 EV charger installation for Duke Energy - Allumia in Charlotte, NC. This permitted EV charging upgrade provided a dedicated, code-compliant circuit to reliably power a customer-supplied Level 2 charger for faster at-home charging.

- Added a 45A breaker matched to the charger and home’s electrical capacity
- Ran approximately 35 feet of 6/3 NM-B cable to the charger location
- Performed careful wire fishing to minimize wall/ceiling disruption
- Handled the electrical permit and documentation
- Set up the installation to be eligible for Duke Energy rebate programs
Technicians on site: Dylan Romero and Tyquan Johnson.
What we installed and why it matters
Level 2 EV chargers significantly reduce charging time compared to standard 120V outlets, making them ideal for overnight, everyday use. A dedicated 240V circuit with the correct breaker and wire size ensures safe, consistent power delivery and helps protect both the charging equipment and the home’s electrical system.
For this project, our electricians installed a properly sized 45A breaker and routed 6/3 NM-B cable over a 35-foot run to the charger location. Where finished areas were involved, we used professional fishing techniques to conceal wiring and preserve the home’s appearance. All connections were secured, labeled, and tested, and the work was permitted in Charlotte, NC.
