Touchstone Electric’s Charlotte team completed a clean, code-compliant Level 2 EV charger outlet installation for Duke Energy - Allumia in Charlotte, NC. On April 21, 2025, our licensed technician, Easton Mitchell, installed a 50-amp NEMA 14-50 receptacle on a dedicated circuit to deliver fast, reliable home charging.
This project was serviced by our Matthews branch, proudly supporting homeowners and businesses throughout the greater Charlotte area.
What We Installed
- NEMA 14-50 Level 2 outlet for 240V EV charging compatibility.
- Dedicated 50-amp breaker installed in the main panel to protect the new circuit and ensure safe operation.
- Approximately 25 feet of 6/3 NM-B Romex to supply the outlet with the appropriate conductor size for a 50-amp load.
- Direct drop beneath the garage panel to minimize run length and provide a tidy, efficient layout.
- Permit obtained and installation completed in accordance with local electrical code.

- Dedicated circuit routing: Ran 6/3 NM-B Romex from the panel to the new outlet location with secure supports and proper protection at penetrations.
- Outlet placement: Mounted the NEMA 14-50 receptacle in a convenient garage location directly below the panel for a clean, efficient install.
- Terminations and labeling: Torqued connections to manufacturer specifications and labeled the new circuit at the panel.
