Level 2 EV charging setup completed in Wilmington, NC
On June 29, 2026, our Raleigh team completed a Level 2 EV charging outlet installation for a customer near Soft Sky Lane in Wilmington, NC 28409. Lead electrician Francisco Martinez installed a dedicated 240V circuit with a 50-amp GFCI breaker and an EV-rated NEMA 14-50 receptacle positioned next to the home’s electrical panel for convenient, efficient charging.
This project was permitted and completed in accordance with local electrical codes and National Electrical Code requirements for EV charging circuits and GFCI protection.
What we installed
- Dedicated 50A GFCI breaker sized for many Level 2 EV chargers that use a NEMA 14-50 plug.
- NEMA 14-50 EV receptacle located adjacent to the panel to minimize wire length and voltage drop.
- Approximately 10 feet of 6/3 NM-B cable professionally routed and secured.
- Labeling and functional testing to verify correct voltage, polarity, and GFCI operation.
- Permit handling and documentation for a smooth, code-compliant installation.
The outlet provides a reliable connection point for a customer-supplied Level 2 EV charger. Positioning the receptacle next to the panel kept the run short and tidy, helping control project scope while delivering fast, dependable charging.
Why this setup is a great fit for Level 2 charging
- Fast at-home charging: A 240V, 50A circuit supports many popular Level 2 EVSE models for overnight charging.
- Safety-first design: GFCI protection adds an important layer of safety for garage and indoor EV outlets.
- Flexible and future-ready: The NEMA 14-50 receptacle accommodates a wide range of plug-in chargers; if needs change later, the dedicated circuit is already in place.
