EV Charger-Ready Installation in Travelers Rest, SC
Touchstone Electric completed a Level 2 EV charger–ready installation for homeowner Roger Sneed in Travelers Rest, SC. Led by technician Tyler Harris from our Greenville branch, the project prepared the garage for either a hardwired Level 2 charger or a NEMA 14-50 receptacle—giving the homeowner flexibility to choose the final connection method. Work was completed on August 27, 2025.
Power was sourced from a Square D QO panel, with a clean attic route to the charger location on the front garage wall. The finished result is a safe, code-compliant circuit ready for final hookup once the homeowner selects their preferred charging option.
What We Installed
- 50A dedicated breaker on the Square D QO panel to serve a Level 2 EV charging circuit.
- Approximately 30 feet of 6/3 NM-B run from the panel through the attic to the front garage wall, positioned for the charger location.
- EV charger–ready termination so the homeowner can choose between a hardwired unit or a NEMA 14-50 receptacle.
- Whole-home surge protection installed at the main panel to help protect the home’s electrical system and connected equipment from damaging voltage spikes.
- Electrical permit filed with the county to ensure documented, inspected work that aligns with local requirements.
Routing the circuit via attic access kept the installation neat and minimally invasive while providing a direct path from panel to garage for optimal performance.
