Touchstone Electric’s Charlotte team, operating from our Matthews branch, completed a clean, energy-efficient lighting upgrade for a Charlotte, NC residence on December 3, 2025. For DeRhodes Construction (Amen Corner Construction, LLC), our technicians Theo Coetsee and Robert Sloan installed a low-profile LED wafer can light, a standard wall switch, and a neat 20 ft run of 14/2 NM-B Romex to tie the new lighting point into the home’s existing lighting circuit.

This Lighting & Ceiling Fans service aligned with our Lighting Installation specialty, delivering a bright, modern look without the depth required by traditional recessed cans—an ideal fit for tight ceiling cavities and finished spaces.

What we installed

LED wafer can light: A slim, long-lasting fixture designed for narrow spaces and smooth, even illumination. Installation only, with wiring provided separately.
Standard wall switch: Installed to control the new light. Compatible with typical 2-way, 3-way, or 4-way configurations as required by the layout.
20 ft of 14/2 NM-B Romex: Routed for a 15-amp lighting application. This scope included any necessary junction box. No new breaker was included or required for this project.

The final result is a discreet, efficient lighting solution that blends seamlessly with the room while providing reliable, comfortable brightness.

How we completed the installation

Site assessment and layout: Verified ceiling depth, framing, and an appropriate tie-in point on an existing 15-amp lighting circuit. Marked an optimal location for balanced coverage.
Precision cut and mounting: Created a tight, clean opening for the wafer trim and secured the fixture’s driver box in an accessible location.
Cable routing: Ran approximately 20 ft of 14/2 NM-B, neatly stapled and protected. Installed a junction box as needed for code-compliant splicing.
Switch install and terminations: Set a standard wall switch, made solid, labeled terminations, and verified proper 2-way operation.
Testing and cleanup: Confirmed correct polarity, grounding, and light output, then left the area clean and ready for use.
