Project overview
Our Charlotte branch (based in Matthews) completed a laundry room power upgrade for Native Contracting on June 8, 2026. Lead electrician Will Cruz installed a dedicated laundry circuit solution that included a standard receptacle and a 20-amp GFCI breaker, providing safe, code-compliant power for laundry equipment in Charlotte, NC.
This job is part of our Outlets & Switches services and aligns with our Outlet Installation & Repair offerings for residential and light remodel projects in the Charlotte area.
Scope of work completed
- Installed 20A GFCI breaker serving the laundry circuit to meet current electrical safety requirements for laundry areas.
- Installed a standard 120V receptacle with a clean, finished cover for the laundry connection point.
- Panel housekeeping and isolation: Taped or wire-nutted every other circuit not serving the washer to help ensure proper isolation and organization within the panel.
- Verification and labeling: Clearly labeled the new laundry circuit and verified correct operation before completion.
The result is a reliable, dedicated 20-amp laundry circuit with integrated GFCI protection—ready for everyday use and future inspections.
Why a 20A GFCI laundry circuit matters
Laundry rooms are considered higher-risk, moisture-prone spaces. A properly installed 20-amp circuit with GFCI protection helps reduce the risk of shock and nuisance tripping while delivering the amperage most laundry appliances require.
- Code-conscious protection: GFCI protection is required in laundry areas to help guard against ground faults.
- Dedicated amperage: A 20-amp circuit supplies adequate power for washers and typical laundry accessories without overloading other household circuits.
- Inspection-ready: Clear labeling, correct breaker type, and a properly installed receptacle streamline inspections and future maintenance.
- Peace of mind: Professionally installed components and testing help ensure safe, dependable operation.
How we ensured safety and compliance
- Component selection: Matched the panel with a compatible 20A GFCI breaker and a listed receptacle and cover.
- Terminations and torque: Landed conductors securely and torqued to manufacturer specifications where applicable.
- Circuit isolation: Organized and isolated circuits not serving the washer with tape or wire nuts for clarity and safety in the panel.
- Functional testing: Verified correct polarity at the receptacle and tested the GFCI trip/reset function at the breaker.
- Labeling and cleanup: Labeled the laundry circuit and left the work area clean and ready for immediate use.
