Project overview

Touchstone Electric’s Charlotte team (Matthews branch) completed a comprehensive kitchen remodel for customer Anthony Westpy in Charlotte, NC. Finished on January 30, 2026, our licensed technicians Robert Sloan and Theo Coetsee handled lighting upgrades, outlet and switch relocations, a new fan box, exterior lighting, and full wiring for a new addition with permitting and inspections coordinated. This project falls under our Lighting & Ceiling Fans and Lighting Installation services.

What we completed

  • Relocated outlets and switches in the kitchen for a safer, cleaner layout:
    • Moved the dishwasher switch to a convenient location under the sink.
    • Prepared the disposal for an air switch on the countertop (countertop hole by contractor).
    • Repositioned outlets adjacent to the sink into the backsplash for code and usability.
    • Adjusted the over-sink light location for centered, task-focused illumination.
    • Shifted a 3-gang switch box to the living-room-side wall to streamline controls.
  • Installed and supplied six 6-inch recessed can lights to deliver even, glare-free kitchen lighting.
  • Installed and supplied a fan-rated ceiling box with a dedicated switch leg for a future or existing fan.
  • Installed and supplied two exterior lights for safer entry/exit and improved curb appeal.
  • Wired a new addition per code and the provided plans, coordinating with inspections throughout.
  • Installed customer-supplied fixtures including two wall sconces and a ceiling fan.
  • Added a specialty receptacle as needed for the kitchen/appliance layout.

The result is a brighter, more functional kitchen and living space with modern controls and properly placed outlets that support everyday cooking, cleaning, and gathering.

Code-compliant wiring and inspections

For the new addition and kitchen remodel, our team followed current electrical code and the project plans. After the rough-in stage and inspection, we completed trim-out services, which included:

  • Supplying and installing smoke detectors.
  • Connecting vent fans (ducting by others).
  • Installing disconnects for HVAC and major appliances.
  • Hooking up customer-supplied appliances such as disposal, dishwasher, range/cooktop, microwave, washer, and dryer as needed.
  • Installing fixtures per the project plans.

We also managed the electrical permit and coordinated required inspections to keep the project on schedule and aligned with local Charlotte, NC standards.

Lighting & fan upgrades that lift your space

Well-placed recessed lighting and a properly supported ceiling fan make a kitchen more comfortable and efficient. The six new 6-inch can lights provide balanced ambient light, while the over-sink light ensures excellent task visibility. A fan-rated box gives the ceiling fan the secure support it needs, reducing vibration and extending the life of the fixture.
