Our Charlotte team (Matthews branch) completed a permitted Outlets & Switches project for Apex Custom Builders on August 3, 2026. The scope included running new dedicated circuits and A/C disconnects for two relocated HVAC condensers, moving a receptacle to clear a new sliding door, and adding a switch with a coach light. Lead technician Mark Alaev handled the work with a two-visit plan to coordinate with the HVAC relocation.

Scope of work: HVAC A/C disconnect wiring, outlet & lighting

Ran new lines for (2) HVAC A/C units using approximately 100 ft of 12/2 NM-B (about 45–50 ft per unit) from the panel, through the crawlspace, and out to the new condenser locations.
Installed (2) ≤60A pull-out A/C disconnects at the new condenser locations for safe servicing and code compliance.
Added (2) double-pole 20 amp breakers dedicated to the new A/C circuits.
Relocated a receptacle to provide clearance for a newly added sliding door; existing conductors were pulled into the crawlspace and spliced in a junction box as needed.
Added a new wall switch and installed a coach light at the left side of the sliding door (customer-supplied fixture).
Electrical permit filed with the county for the scope of electrical work.

How we completed the installation

To support the relocation of the HVAC units to the left side of the home, we routed new 12/2 NM-B from the main panel into the crawlspace and out to weather-rated A/C disconnects at each condenser. We then landed the new circuits on dedicated double-pole 20A breakers to provide the required capacity and clear labeling in the panel.

For the interior updates around the new sliding door, we moved the affected receptacle by pulling its conductors down into the crawlspace and completing safe, accessible splices before setting the outlet at its new location. We also added a new switch by the left side of the sliding door and installed the coach light to provide convenient exterior illumination.

Note: To fish wiring and set the new switch box, limited drywall cutting may be required on projects like this. As discussed in advance, Touchstone Electric is not responsible for drywall patching or repair.

Two-visit plan for a smooth HVAC changeover

Day 1: Complete new A/C circuits, install disconnects and breakers, relocate the receptacle, set the new switch, and install the coach light.
Day 2: Return after the HVAC equipment is moved to properly disconnect old HVAC wiring and finalize terminations at the new locations.

Permits, code, and safety

We obtained an electrical permit for this Charlotte project to ensure the work followed local codes and safety standards. Dedicated breakers, clearly labeled circuits, and on-site A/C disconnects allow safe isolation of each condenser for future service.
