Project overview: Outlets, Switches, and Trenching in Indian Land, SC
Touchstone Electric’s Charlotte team based in Matthews completed a comprehensive Outlets & Switches project for SunSouth Carolinas in Indian Land, SC on September 26, 2025. Lead technicians Chris Rogers and Christian Cedillos delivered a turnkey solution that combined dedicated 20-amp circuits, code-compliant outdoor power, and professional trenching with conduit to support an outdoor kitchen and future expansion.
Scope of work completed
- Dedicated 20A circuits: Installed and supplied new 20-amp circuits to support higher-demand loads and reduce nuisance tripping.
- New breakers: Installed three new breakers, including two 20A GFCI breakers to provide ground-fault protection where required.
- Outdoor GFCI-protected outlets: Installed two weather-resistant receptacles for the outdoor kitchen, each protected by in-use bubble covers for continuous weatherproofing.
- Low-voltage equipment outlet: Added a standard receptacle to power a low-voltage transformer or equipment power supply.
- Outdoor junction box: Installed an exterior-rated junction box for clean, serviceable terminations.
- Light switch point: Installed a new single switch to control the designated light or device.
- Conduit and wiring: Installed 110 feet of 1-inch PVC conduit with fittings, pull points, and LBs as needed; pulled approximately 330 feet of THHN #12 conductors for the dedicated 20A circuits.
- Trenching and backfill: Professionally trenched and backfilled 110 feet to an approximate depth of 18–24 inches for the new conduit pathway.
Why dedicated 20A circuits and GFCI protection matter
Outdoor kitchens, garages, and utility spaces often run appliances that draw more current than typical outlets can handle. Dedicated 20-amp circuits help deliver reliable power to equipment like outdoor refrigerators, grills with electric ignition, and countertop appliances, while minimizing overloads on general-use circuits.
GFCI protection is critical for any outlet that may encounter moisture, including exterior receptacles and areas like bathrooms, laundry rooms, and basements. By deploying GFCI protection at the breaker or receptacle, Touchstone Electric helps reduce shock risk and keep your installation aligned with current electrical safety standards.
Built for outdoor performance in Indian Land
Our electricians selected weather-resistant devices and in-use bubble covers so the outlets remain protected even when cords are plugged in. The 1-inch PVC conduit provides a durable underground raceway, and the THHN #12 conductors are sized appropriately for 20-amp branch circuits.
Trenching was completed with attention to routing, depth, and backfill to support long-term reliability. For any future digging, always contact your local utility locate service (811) before you break ground to identify buried lines and maintain jobsite safety.
Code-conscious installation and neat workmanship
From precise breaker labeling to clean junction box terminations and secure conduit runs, our team focuses on craftsmanship that looks as good as it performs. The result is a safe, organized system that supports present needs and leaves room for future upgrades.
