Professional GFCI Outlet Installation and New Circuit in Sanford, NC
On January 8, 2025, our Raleigh branch technician, Brad Williams, completed a safety-focused electrical upgrade for a home in Sanford, NC. The project combined new circuit wiring with targeted GFCI protection to serve a front bedroom and guest bathroom—delivering reliable power and enhanced protection where it matters most.

Scope of Work
- Isolated and unwired the old feed that had been serving the front bedroom and guest bathroom.
- Ran a new 15-amp circuit from the electrical panel through the crawlspace to supply the bedroom and bathroom with clean, dedicated power.
- Installed GFCI outlets in appropriate areas to add shock protection in locations with moisture exposure.
- Added a 15A AFCI breaker to help detect dangerous arcing conditions and increase fire safety on the new circuit.
- Performed circuit restoration to ensure all connections tested correctly and any necessary repairs were completed.
- Fishing wire through tight spaces to reach finished areas with minimal disturbance to walls and finishes.
Materials and Equipment Used
- NM-B Romex 14/2 (approx. 100 ft) for a 15-amp general-purpose branch circuit to the bedroom and bath.
- 15A AFCI breaker to add arc-fault protection for the living space circuit.
- Two GFCI receptacles with covers installed in appropriate locations serving the bathroom and adjacent areas.
- Wire fishing (approx. 20 ft) to route cable through hard-to-reach areas cleanly.
- Circuit restoration and testing to verify proper operation at all outlets and devices on the run.
Why AFCI and GFCI Protection Matter
GFCI outlets help reduce shock risk in bathrooms and similar areas by rapidly cutting power when an imbalance is detected. AFCI protection adds another safety layer by monitoring for potentially dangerous arcing that could lead to overheating.
