Project overview
Our Charlotte branch team, serving Monroe, NC from our Matthews service area, completed a comprehensive outlet and safety upgrade for homeowner Gayle Walsh on November 6, 2025. Lead technician Jose Rodriguez handled GFCI protection, kitchen plug molding by the stove, light fixture work, a new 20A GFCI breaker with fresh wiring, and diagnostics for a front gate light.
Scope of work completed
- Installed three new GFCI outlets with covers in key locations for shock protection.
- Installed low-profile plug molding next to the kitchen stove for convenient, code-conscious countertop power.
- Removed and reinstalled the master closet light on the existing circuit and box.
- Removed an old outlet setup in the garage and cleared wood feet on the wall to ensure proper outlet placement and safe clearances.
- Added a 20A GFCI breaker and ran new NM-B 12/2 wiring with PVC conduit as needed for a clean, protected installation.
- Performed electrical cleanup to terminate open conductors and remove unnecessary wiring.
- Diagnosed front gate lighting issues to pinpoint faults and recommend reliable fixes.
This project brought the kitchen, garage, and exterior lighting up to a safer, more dependable standard while improving day-to-day usability.
Why GFCI protection matters
Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter (GFCI) devices reduce the risk of electrical shock by shutting off power in milliseconds if an imbalance is detected. In moisture-prone or outdoor areas, GFCI outlets and breakers are essential. Kitchen plug molding by the stove

Our team carefully measured, mounted, and connected the molding to meet code, align with cabinetry and tile, and deliver a neat, low-profile finish.
Troubleshooting and cleanup
Our diagnostics at the front gate focused on testing voltage, connections, and load paths to identify why the light was unreliable. We also removed outdated garage components and performed a detailed electrical cleanup—terminating any open conductors and eliminating unnecessary runs—so the system remains safe, serviceable, and tidy.
Materials and installation quality
This Monroe project included new NM-B 12/2 wiring for the 20A circuit and PVC conduit where protection and routing demanded it. Every connection was torqued to spec, conductors were neatly dressed, and covers were installed to match the finished spaces. The result is a safer electrical system and outlets right where the homeowner needs them.
