Project overview in Chapel Hill, NC

Our Raleigh branch completed a permitted Outlets & Switches service for Ground Works - Raleigh in Chapel Hill, NC on January 14, 2026. Lead technician Cody Perry installed two new outlets with 20A GFCI protection and corrected an inspection note by sealing an exterior-to-crawlspace conduit penetration in accordance with NEC 300.7.

  • Service category: Outlets & Switches → Outlet Installation & Repair
  • Location served: Chapel Hill, NC (Raleigh branch)
  • Scope: Install two new outlets and provide 20A GFCI protection
  • Code correction: Seal conduit between outside and thermal area per NEC 300.7
  • Compliance: Work performed under permit; no circuit extensions used per local requirements

What we fixed and why it matters

The original inspection note called for sealing the raceway where it transitions from the exterior into the home’s thermal boundary (crawlspace). NEC 300.7 requires sealing raceways that pass between areas with different temperatures to reduce moisture migration and condensation inside the conduit, which can lead to corrosion and electrical hazards. Our team sealed the penetration to protect the system and support a clean re-inspection.

Additionally, we provided 20A GFCI protection for the new outlets. GFCI protection is essential in areas where moisture may be present, helping to reduce shock risk and keep the installation compliant with current electrical codes.

How we delivered a code-compliant installation

  • Permit and planning: Reviewed the approved plan and inspection notes before work began.
  • Protection at the source: Provided 20A GFCI protection from the panel for the new receptacle locations.
  • Outlet installation: Installed two new outlets to spec, using proper materials and terminations.
  • NEC 300.7 sealing: Sealed the exterior-to-crawlspace conduit at the thermal boundary to mitigate condensation and moisture migration.
  • Verification and testing: Checked polarity, grounding, and GFCI trip functionality.
  • Documentation: Captured completion photos of the panel (interior/exterior, labels, and details) and close/zoomed outlet shots for the permit record.

This approach ensures durability, safety, and alignment with both code and local inspection expectations for Outlet Installation & Repair projects in Chapel Hill.
