Touchstone Electric’s Raleigh branch completed a safe, code-compliant outdoor power upgrade for a homeowner in Durham, NC. On January 7, 2026, our technician, Brad Williams, installed a dedicated 120V circuit with GFCI protection and a weatherproof outdoor outlet equipped with an in-use bubble cover for continuous protection against the elements.

Scope of work

Installed a dedicated 120V GFCI-protected circuit (15/20 amp single-pole GFCI breaker) from the electrical panel to the outdoor location.
Added a weather-resistant outdoor receptacle in an exterior-rated box with an in-use bubble cover for wet-location safety, whether the plug is connected or not.
Filed the required electrical permit with the county and completed the installation to current NEC and local code standards.
Labeled the new circuit and performed operational and GFCI trip testing to verify protection and proper voltage.
