Touchstone Electric’s Charlotte team completed a clean, code-compliant power solution for a new gate operator for JM Fence Crafters in Charlotte, NC. On November 12, 2025, technician Cash Divver installed a dedicated 20‑amp branch circuit with GFCI protection, new indoor and outdoor wiring, and an electrical whip to deliver safe, reliable power to the gate motor.

What We Installed

20‑amp GFCI Breaker: A new 20A GFCI breaker was added in the panel to protect the outdoor circuit and meet current electrical safety standards for exterior equipment.
NM‑B 12/2 (approx. 50 ft): Interior-rated cable from the service panel to the exterior transition point, neatly routed and secured to protect the home’s interior finishes.
UF 12/2 (approx. 20 ft): Direct‑burial, outdoor‑rated cable from the exterior junction to the gate location, installed at a code‑compliant burial depth. (Typical requirements are 24 inches, or 12 inches when GFCI protected.)
Electrical Whip: A flexible, weather‑resistant whip was installed to make a durable final connection to the gate operator.

At the equipment, we provided an electrical whip for a secure, flexible termination into the gate operator, supporting vibration resistance and serviceability. Connections were tightened to manufacturer torque specs, conductors were neatly dressed, and the new circuit was labeled for easy identification.
