Sunroom Floor Outlet Installation in Matthews, NC
Our Charlotte branch completed a clean, code-compliant floor outlet installation for Bob Wieckowski in Matthews, NC. The project upgraded a bright, multipurpose sunroom with convenient power where it’s actually needed—on the floor, not just along the walls. This finished service was handled by our technicians Danny Bishop and Cash Divver and wrapped up on May 4, 2026.
To ensure safety and compliance, we filed the required electrical permit, installed two low-profile floor receptacles, and protected the new circuit with a 15A AFCI breaker. The result is a safer, more functional sunroom with outlets positioned for lamps, chargers, and seasonal decor—without cord clutter.
What We Installed
- (2) Floor Outlets: Neat, flush-mounted receptacles placed for practical furniture layouts and reduced trip hazards.
- New 15A AFCI Breaker: Added protection for arc faults to help reduce fire risk in living areas and sunrooms.
- UF 14/2 Cabling: We ran new 14/2 UF cable to supply the outlets—durable, moisture-resistant wiring well suited for sunroom environments.
- Electrical Permit Filed: Permit and inspection coordination to keep the project fully code-compliant.
We also credited the initial service call toward the work when the estimate was approved on site—another way we streamline scheduling and keep your project moving.
Why Floor Outlets Are Great for Sunrooms
- Furniture-Friendly Power: Place lamps and charging stations where you want them, not just where wall outlets allow.
- Cleaner Look: Fewer cords snaking across walkways makes the space feel tidy and intentional.
- Flexible Layouts: Rearrange seating or add a reading nook without rethinking power access.
- Safer Spaces: Reduced cord clutter lowers trip hazards for family and guests.
Safety, Code, and What to Expect
AFCI protection: We installed a 15A AFCI breaker to meet modern safety standards in living areas. In some homes, AFCI breakers can trip immediately if a preexisting condition is present on the circuit (for example, a shared neutral). If that occurs, it may require targeted troubleshooting—sometimes opening devices on the affected branch circuit—to locate and correct the issue. Our team explains findings and next steps clearly if diagnostics are needed.
Permitting and inspections: Touchstone Electric filed the electrical permit for this project and coordinated inspection. Note that only the electrical permit is included. If your home requires additional non-electrical approvals (such as Historic Preservation, Environmental/Septic, Zoning, or Builder-related permits), those are separate. If we discover additional permits are needed, we’ll let you know exactly which ones apply and can guide you through handling them or provide pricing if you’d like us to process those on your behalf.
