Level 2 EV Charger Installation Completed in Fairview, NC

Touchstone Electric completed a Level 2 EV charger installation for Duke Energy - Allumia in Fairview, North Carolina. This project was designed to provide a dedicated 240-volt charging circuit for a customer-supplied EV charger, supporting dependable at-home charging for an electric vehicle.

Our Asheville branch completed the work with technician Frank Fragale. The installation included the electrical equipment and wiring needed to serve the charger location, along with permit coordination and a Duke Energy EV rebate applied to the project.

Dedicated 50-Amp Circuit for EV Charging

Level 2 EV chargers require a properly sized dedicated circuit to deliver higher-voltage charging safely and consistently. For this Fairview installation, our team installed a new 50-amp GFCI breaker to protect the charging circuit and support the electrical requirements of the customer-supplied equipment.

A dedicated breaker helps isolate the EV charger from other household loads. This approach provides the charger with its own circuit capacity while adding ground-fault circuit interruption protection where required for the installation.

6/3 NM-B Wiring Run and Difficult Wire Routing

To connect the electrical panel to the EV charger location, Touchstone Electric installed approximately 30 feet of 6/3 NM-B cable. This wiring is commonly used for 50-amp, 240-volt circuits serving high-demand equipment such as EV chargers and other major appliances.

The project also required additional wire fishing through harder-to-reach areas. Careful wire routing is an important part of a clean installation, especially when the path between the panel and charging equipment involves concealed spaces or more challenging access points. An electrical assistant was included to help complete the installation efficiently and safely.

Permit Included for the Fairview EV Charger Project

Electrical permits are an important part of many EV charger installations. This completed project included the applicable permit, helping ensure the new charging circuit was installed as part of a properly documented electrical upgrade.

Permitted work is especially important when adding a high-capacity circuit to a home’s electrical system. It provides a clear process for the installation and supports compliance with local electrical requirements for the Fairview service area.

Duke Energy EV Rebate Applied

This Level 2 charger installation included a Duke Energy EV rebate. Utility rebate programs can help eligible customers offset portions of the cost associated with installing qualifying EV charging infrastructure. The rebate was incorporated into this completed project along with the required electrical work and permit.

Because program requirements, equipment eligibility, and available incentives can change, homeowners considering a new EV charger should confirm current program details before scheduling their installation.
