Touchstone Electric completed a residential EV charging project in Fort Mill, upgrading the electrical system to support a customer-supplied Level 2 charger. Our Charlotte team based in Matthews handled the complete setup, from panel work to wiring and permitting, so the homeowner can charge confidently and conveniently at home.
What We Installed
- Dedicated 240V EV circuit designed for Level 2 charging performance and reliability.
- New 60A standard breaker added in the main electrical panel for the EV charging load.
- Approximately 65 ft of 6/3 NM-B cable routed cleanly from the panel to the charging location, with a junction box if required by layout.
- Connection of the customer-supplied EV charger on the new circuit (hardwired or via the correct receptacle, per equipment specifications and code).
- Labeling, testing, and verification of correct voltage, polarity, and protective device operation.
The result is a dedicated home charging setup that supports faster, at-home Level 2 charging compared to standard 120V outlets, while keeping the rest of the home’s electrical system protected on its own circuit.
Permits, Code, and Inspection
We pulled the electrical permit with the local authority for this Fort Mill installation and completed the work to current electrical standards. If an inspection is required by the jurisdiction, our team coordinates to ensure a smooth sign-off process.
Note on permits: This project included the electrical permit. Separate permits that are non-electrical (such as historic, environmental/septic, zoning, or builder-related permits) vary by jurisdiction and are not included. If additional permits are needed, we’ll advise you on next steps and can provide pricing to process them as requested.
