What We Did
- Installed a dedicated 20A GFCI breaker at the main panel to protect the entire outdoor run.
- Utilized the homeowner’s pre-run fish line to fish conductors from the crawlspace into the panel for a clean, minimally invasive pull.
- Routed conductors in 3/4-inch PVC conduit within the existing trench for a tough, weather-resistant underground pathway.
- Selected #10 THHN copper conductors for the underground segment to help minimize voltage drop over the distance to the shed.
- Added weather-resistant exterior junction boxes at the home and the shed for protected transitions and future serviceability.
- Transitioned at the shed to NM-B cable to tie into the prewired shed’s existing 14-gauge branch wiring with appropriate protection at the point of connection.
- Tested all terminations, verified GFCI protection, and labeled the new circuit for straightforward identification.
