Comprehensive Inspection Corrections in Kannapolis
After a failed inspection, Divine Restoration Group asked Touchstone Electric to bring the property up to code and ready for reinspection. Our licensed electricians worked methodically to correct safety issues, address missing equipment, and align overcurrent protection with equipment ratings. The result is a safer, cleaner, and compliant electrical system.
What We Corrected for Code Compliance
- Neutral/ground separation and bonding: Separated neutrals and grounds in the HVAC disconnect and verified proper bonding of the disconnect enclosure.
- Device covers and accessibility: Installed missing cover plates throughout; added an in-use, weather-resistant cover on the exterior receptacle; addressed the back bedroom receptacle and switch that were located behind a door to ensure safe, accessible operation.
- Enclosure integrity: Closed an open box behind the range and replaced missing fixture trims/covers where lights were noted as “missing” in the front bedroom and laundry area.
- Remove abandoned wiring: Traced, removed, and cleaned up all old, unused wiring and devices to eliminate confusion and potential hazards.
- Proper breaker sizing: Installed a correctly sized 50A breaker for the range and a 30A breaker for the water heater, matching equipment requirements.
- Water heater lockout/disconnect: Added a code-compliant lockout solution for the water heater circuit so it can be safely serviced.
- AFCI/GFCI protection: Installed AFCI/GFCI protection where required to reduce arc-fault and ground-fault risks in living and damp areas.
- Laundry transformer adjustments: Relocated and secured the laundry transformer to meet clearance and mounting requirements.
- HVAC labeling and connection: Verified the packaged unit’s single-point connection requirements and ensured the disconnect, bonding, and overcurrent protection align with the manufacturer’s labeling.
Safety Upgrades That Make a Difference
- Shock protection outdoors: Durable, weatherproof in-use covers help prevent moisture intrusion on exterior receptacles.
- Fire prevention indoors: AFCI protection helps detect dangerous arcing conditions before they escalate.
- Serviceability: Clearly labeled, properly sized breakers and a lockable means of disconnect improve safety for occupants and technicians.
- System clarity: Removing abandoned wiring reduces troubleshooting time and minimizes the chance of inadvertent energization.
