What we installed
- Main Panel — 200A (outdoor) with aluminum bus: We replaced the existing panel, reconnected the service entrance conductors, properly grounded and bonded the enclosure, and reconnected existing branch circuits. All circuits were clearly labeled to simplify future service and troubleshooting.
- Whole‑home surge protector: Installed at the main electrical panel to divert excess voltage safely to ground during surges caused by lightning activity, utility fluctuations, or large appliances cycling. This helps protect covered equipment and extend the lifespan of electronics and HVAC components.
- Dedicated‑load breakers (as required): Standard breakers were installed or updated at the appropriate sizes for the home’s loads, including 90A, 60A, 40A, 30A double‑pole, 25A double‑pole, and 20A double‑pole positions commonly serving ranges, dryers, water heaters, HVAC equipment, EV chargers, spas, subpanels, well pumps, and similar circuits.
Note: This scope did not include a separate service disconnect, feeder, or meter upgrade.
Code compliance and inspection in Raleigh
Our team brought the electrical system into compliance by grounding and bonding the new panel and ensuring orderly, labeled terminations. As Raleigh continues implementing NEC 2020 requirements, inspectors may require AFCI protection on certain circuits.
