Electrical Panel Upgrade and Surge Protection in Greenville, NC

Our Raleigh branch completed a comprehensive electrical panel upgrade and whole‑home surge protection project for homeowner Julia Wooten in Greenville, NC. Led by technician Gustavo Peralta on April 23, 2026, this Panels & Service Upgrades project was permitted and inspected, delivering a safer, code‑compliant service with modern protection against power surges.

Signature Lifetime Craftsmanship Warranty Included on our workmanship for added peace of mind.

Scope of Work

  • Permit and inspection: We pulled the necessary permit and coordinated the inspection process for a compliant installation.
  • Main panel replacement (indoor, 200A aluminum bus): Brought the service equipment up to current electrical code, replaced the panel and main lug, labeled all circuits, and completed proper grounding and bonding. Existing service entrance conductors and circuits were reconnected. The panel includes a 20‑year transferable panel warranty.
  • Whole‑home surge protection: Installed a device with $50,000 coverage and a 10‑year term to divert excess voltage to ground and protect the home’s electrical system and covered appliances from grid fluctuations, lightning‑related surges, and equipment cycling.
  • New breakers installed:
    • 2 × 50A Standard
    • 1 × 40A Standard
    • 2 × 30A Double‑Pole
    • 5 × 20A Standard
    • 2 × 15A Standard
    • 3 × 20A Double‑Pole
  • Grounding upgrade: Installed new grounding electrode components, including driven ground rod(s), a grounding electrode conductor (up to 25 feet), listed clamps, and secure terminations at the main service panel.
  • Power outage planning: A generator was available for limited power needs during the panel changeover outage.

About the Surge Protector Coverage

The whole‑house surge protector is installed at the main panel to intercept surges before they travel through the home’s wiring. It helps safeguard appliances and electronics and can extend the lifespan of sensitive devices subject to routine surges.

Coverage highlights include up to $50,000 for qualifying, covered equipment over 10 years. Examples of covered items include washer, dryer, refrigerator, freezer, HVAC equipment located inside, dishwasher, garbage disposal, stove, wiring, outlets/switches, breakers, and hard‑wired devices like built‑in microwaves, furnaces, air handlers, evaporator coils, hard‑wired ranges, landscape lighting, and home lighting. Claims are secondary to your existing insurance policy and do not cover direct lightning strikes; security systems and medical equipment are excluded.

Code Compliance and Safety Notes

As local inspectors continue implementing NEC 2020 requirements, some homes may be required to upgrade certain circuits to AFCI protection. In older wiring systems, preexisting conditions such as shared neutrals can cause immediate tripping and may require diagnostic time to resolve. Our team communicates these possibilities up front and provides solutions tailored to each home’s wiring.

Customer Experience

After completion, Julia Wooten praised our team with a positive review. We appreciate the feedback and are proud to deliver clean, organized workmanship and clear communication throughout the project.
