Project Overview

This Panels & Service Upgrades job centered on replacing an aging main service panel with a modern, code-compliant system designed to handle today’s household demands. We installed a 200A indoor main panel with an aluminum bus, paired with robust surge protection to safeguard sensitive electronics and major appliances.

Scope of Work Completed

Permit and Inspection Coordination: We pulled the required permit and coordinated the official inspection as part of our turnkey service.
Main Electrical Panel Replacement (200A, Aluminum Bus): Panel brought up to current electrical code. We replaced the panel and main lug, labeled all circuits, grounded and bonded the new panel, reconnected the service entrance cable, and reconnected existing branch circuits. The new panel includes a 20-year transferable warranty.
Whole-Home Surge Protection: Installed a system providing up to $10,000 of connected equipment protection with a 3-year warranty, helping defend the home against damaging voltage spikes.
Breaker Upgrades and Replacements:
- 2 × 40A standard breakers (common for larger loads like HVAC, spa, EV charger, or water heater)
- 2 × 30A standard double-pole breakers
- 7 × 20A standard breakers for small appliances and general use circuits
- 10 × 15A standard breakers for bathrooms, lighting, and standard branch circuits
Dedicated Crawl Space Circuits: Installed dedicated circuits for the sump pump and dehumidifier to improve reliability and moisture management.
Power Management During Outage: During the cutover, Touchstone made a generator available for limited power use to reduce disruption.
