Touchstone Electric completed a residential electrical panel upgrade for Abby Emanuelson in Cary, bringing the home’s electrical distribution system up to current code requirements and improving capacity, organization, and safety. Gray Gorrell and Cody Perry completed the project through our Raleigh branch.
The existing panel was replaced with a new indoor 200-amp aluminum-bus electrical panel. The installation included reconnecting the service entrance cable and existing circuits, properly grounding and bonding the new panel, and clearly labeling the updated electrical system. Permitting and inspection were included as part of the completed panel upgrade.
New Breakers for a Modernized Electrical System
To support the home’s circuits and major electrical loads, the project included a full set of new standard breakers. The upgraded panel received breakers for branch circuits, small-appliance circuits, bathroom lighting, and larger double-pole loads such as equipment that may include dryers, water heaters, air conditioners, spas, or EV chargers.

By diverting excess voltage toward the grounding system before it reaches connected circuits, panel-mounted surge protection can help protect household electrical equipment and electronics from routine surge exposure.
The installed surge protector includes a $50,000 connected-equipment warranty for 10 years, subject to the manufacturer’s terms, conditions, exclusions, and applicable insurance requirements. Direct lightning strikes, security systems, and medical equipment are excluded from covered equipment.
