Project overview
Touchstone Electric completed an Electrical Outlet Installation & Weatherproof Covers project for homeowner Neal Nunan in Union, SC. This Outlets & Switches service, categorized under Outlet Installation & Repair, was performed by technician Danny Bishop from our Greenville branch on May 2, 2025. The work focused on adding standard indoor receptacles, installing outdoor receptacles with in-use bubble covers, and routing new wiring and conduit cleanly into the subpanel.
What we installed
- Outdoor receptacles with in-use bubble covers (3) – Weatherproof covers that protect outlets whether a plug is inserted or not, ideal for year-round outdoor use.
- Standard indoor receptacles (4) – Neatly installed with matching covers for reliable, convenient power where it’s needed.
- 12/3 NM-B Romex wiring (~55 ft) – Routed to support the new receptacle locations and tied into the home’s electrical system.
- 3/4-inch PVC conduit – Used where rigid, durable protection and a clean path to the subpanel were required.
- 3/4-inch liquid-tight flexible conduit – Seal-tight flex used for transitions and areas that benefit from vibration and moisture resistance, including crawlspace routing.
These components were selected to deliver safe, code-conscious performance for both indoor and outdoor circuits while maintaining a tidy, professional finish.
How we completed the job
Our team carefully planned the route from the new receptacle locations to the subpanel, combining PVC and liquid-tight flexible conduit to protect conductors and create a secure, serviceable pathway—especially important where the run passed through the crawlspace. We pulled new 12/3 NM-B to the subpanel, made clean terminations, and ensured a proper, protected entry with appropriate fittings.
For the outdoor locations, we installed in-use bubble covers that shield the receptacles from rain and debris, helping preserve connections during active use and when not in use. Indoors, the new standard outlets were installed plumb and level, with covers aligned to match the home’s finish. To wrap up, we verified grounding and polarity, inspected connections, and confirmed smooth operation at each receptacle.
Why weatherproof covers and proper wiring matter
- All-weather protection: Bubble covers help prevent moisture intrusion that can lead to tripping, corrosion, or premature failure of devices.
- Durable conduit routing: PVC and liquid-tight flex protect wiring from impact, movement, and damp conditions—ideal for exterior walls and crawlspaces.
- Future serviceability: Clearly routed and protected conductors make future additions or maintenance simpler and safer.
- Performance and reliability: Properly sized conductors and secure terminations support consistent power delivery to outlets.
