This Outlets & Switches project, handled by our Charlotte branch team based out of Matthews, improved convenience and reduced cord clutter around the living room fireplace.

Scope of Work

Floor receptacle (specialty outlet): Supplied and installed a low‑profile floor outlet with a matching cover for discreet, furniture‑friendly power access. This item included the cover and installation; it did not include a new circuit or conduit.
Switch relocation (both sides of the fireplace): Moved and reinstalled two standard switches to provide intuitive control and a cleaner wall layout. Work covered install/replacement for light/fixture control (2‑way, 3‑way, or 4‑way as applicable) and did not include new wiring beyond the stated materials or a new circuit.
Wiring: Pulled approximately 30 feet of NM‑B Romex 14/2 suitable for 15‑amp lighting and general‑purpose branch circuits. The material line included any required junction box to maintain accessibility and code compliance. No new breaker was included in the scope.

The focus was on safe routing, neat terminations, and a finished look that blends with the existing décor while keeping wiring and boxes accessible and compliant.

How We Delivered a Code‑Compliant Finish

Our team evaluated the layout around the fireplace to plan device placement, clearances, and wire paths that respect building materials and manufacturer guidelines. NM‑B 14/2 was routed with proper support and secured to framing at required intervals. Junction boxes were installed where needed to maintain accessibility, and box fill calculations guided device and conductor placement.

Switch relocation work accounted for the existing switching arrangement, ensuring the relocated controls maintained intended functionality. Connections were torqued to spec, grounds were bonded, and devices were neatly set and labeled. All work was performed in accordance with current NEC standards and local code requirements in Mint Hill, NC.
