Touchstone Electric completed a full 200A meter/panel combo replacement for a residential customer in Morgantown, NC. This upgrade boosts electrical capacity, improves reliability, and brings the service equipment up to current code standards. The job included utility coordination, permitting, new service conduit to the weatherhead, refreshed grounding, clear circuit labeling, and integrated surge protection.

What we replaced and installed
This project falls under our Panels & Service Upgrades and Meter Base & Service Replacement services. Our team handled the end-to-end scope needed for a safe, code-compliant upgrade.
- Removed existing meter/panel combo and installed a new 200A meter-panel combination.
- Scheduled the utility power drop and pulled all required permits.
- Installed new conduit from the meter to the weatherhead and a new service entrance cable to the end of the drip loop.
- Upgraded grounding with ground rods and bonding conductors for a solid grounding electrode system.
- Labeled all circuits in the new panel for easy identification and future service.
- Added whole-home surge protection to help safeguard sensitive electronics and major appliances.
When needed, Touchstone Electric can make a generator available for limited power usage during the outage window upon customer request.
Breaker configuration for this home
As part of the panel setup, we installed and configured breakers to support the home’s existing and planned loads:
- Two 100A (2-pole) breakers dedicated for subpanel feeds.
- One 25A (2-pole) breaker suitable for a small condenser, well pump, or compact mini-split.
- Two 20A standard breakers for small appliance circuits.
This layout provides balanced distribution, better fault protection, and room for future expansion as the homeowner’s needs evolve.

From the weatherhead and drip loop to grounding and bonding, every part of this upgrade was performed to current code. Proper labeling and surge protection further enhance safety, making maintenance simpler and helping protect the home during utility events or storms.
