The Challenge
Facilities with 25’+ ceilings often face recurring maintenance from short-lived lamps and difficult access. In this Durham project, the existing halogen light consumed more energy, ran hotter, and required special equipment for each change-out. The pool-area wall light also relied on a ballast, adding another failure point and ongoing upkeep.
Our Solution
- High-Ceiling LED Upgrade: We supplied and installed an LED COB light to replace the halogen bulb at 25’+ height. COB (chip-on-board) technology provides high-output, uniform illumination with excellent efficiency.
- Lift Coordination: Our team scheduled a 26’ narrow scissor lift to navigate tight access and reach the fixture safely, minimizing disruption to the facility.
- Pool Light Conversion: We upgraded the wall light to longer-lasting LED and removed the ballast. The retrofit included two LED bulbs, reducing future maintenance and improving reliability.
By removing the ballast in the pool-area light and switching to LED, the system now operates more efficiently and with fewer components that can fail. The high-ceiling LED COB upgrade provides bright, instant-on light without the heat and frequent replacements associated with halogen.
