- Permit and inspection coordination: We pulled the required permit and coordinated inspection for code compliance.
- 200A outdoor main panel with copper bus: New service equipment installed, grounded and bonded, circuits reconnected and labeled. The copper bus bar includes a 50-year transferable warranty.
- Whole-home surge protection: Installed service-panel surge protection with $100,000 equipment coverage and 10-year warranty for defense against lightning-related surges and utility fluctuations.
- 60A outdoor subpanel for shed: New feeder, PVC conduit, and trenching to deliver safe, code-compliant power to the outbuilding.
- Full home rewire: Replaced aging conductors with new NM-B wiring, corrected terminations, and brought branch circuits up to current safety standards.
- Whole-home redevice: Replaced switches and receptacles, upgrading to tamper-resistant outlets for enhanced child safety.
- Dedicated crawlspace circuits: Two new GFCI-protected 20A circuits for the sump pump and dehumidifier.
- Convenience and ventilation upgrades: Added a new attic receptacle for a gable fan and installed a customer-supplied bathroom exhaust fan.
- Breaker and feeder updates: Installed appropriately sized standard and GFCI breakers, new service cable, and feeders to match the upgraded 200A capacity.
- Planned outage support: Generator support was available to maintain limited power during the panel changeover.
Code, Safety, and Long-Term Protection
As local inspectors implement NEC 2020, some homes may require AFCI protection on certain circuits. Introducing AFCI breakers can expose preexisting wiring conditions (like shared neutrals) that may need additional troubleshooting. Our team advised the homeowner on these potential requirements and ensured the system was ready for inspection.
