Why Surge Protection Matters
Whole-home surge protection helps defend sensitive electronics and major appliances from sudden voltage spikes caused by lightning activity, power grid fluctuations, or high-demand equipment cycling. By shunting excess voltage safely to ground at the main panel, the surge protective device reduces the risk of damage and can help extend the lifespan of connected equipment.
This installation features a device with up to $50,000 in coverage over 10 years for covered equipment when properly connected, as described by the manufacturer. Claims are secondary to existing insurance, and direct lightning strikes are excluded. Certain items, such as security systems and medical equipment, are not included in covered equipment per the manufacturer’s terms.
Code-Compliant Power and Protection
The new 20A circuit is paired with 12-gauge (12/2) copper wiring for proper ampacity, and connections are made with secure terminations and clear panel labeling. The GFCI outlet provides added safety by rapidly interrupting power when a ground fault is detected.
All work was permitted and completed to local code. Note: the filed permit was for electrical scope only; if other jurisdictions require non-electrical permits (e.g., zoning or environmental), those are not included unless specifically arranged.
