Outlet Installation and New 20A Circuit in Charlotte, NC

Our Charlotte branch completed a residential project for Michelle Silvano in Charlotte, NC, delivering a clean, code-conscious installation focused on reliable power and outdoor safety. The scope included a new 20-amp branch circuit run in NM-B 12/2, a properly installed standard outlet, protective PVC conduit where exposed runs were needed, and the supply of a motion-sensor floodlight and breaker.

Technicians Mark Viktorovich and Hanna Patton completed the work on May 19, 2025. As a Matthews-based team serving greater Charlotte, we prioritize neat workmanship, testing, and compliance with current standards.

What We Installed

  • New 20A circuit: 50 ft of NM-B Romex 12/2 to support higher-current devices with a dedicated, balanced load path.
  • 20-amp breaker: A standard 20A breaker was supplied to match the new circuit and panel specifications.
  • Standard outlet: Professionally mounted receptacle with cover, tied into the newly installed circuit for dependable power.
  • PVC conduit (3/4”): Approximately 5 ft of schedule-rated conduit with the appropriate connectors and LBs to protect wiring where surface/exposed pathways were required.
  • NM-B 14/2 (5 ft): Short lighting-grade cable used where appropriate for fixture-related connections.
  • Motion-sensor floodlight (unit supplied): Customer received a new fixture, ideal for perimeter visibility and convenience.

Following installation, our crew verified proper breaker sizing, polarity, and continuity, and ensured that the added outlet and new circuit performed as expected under load.

Why a Dedicated 20A Circuit and New Outlet?

  • Reduce nuisance trips: Separating high-demand tools and appliances helps prevent overloads on shared circuits.
  • Capacity where you need it: A 20-amp line with 12/2 copper wiring supports equipment that standard 15-amp circuits may struggle to handle.
  • Cleaner setup: A purpose-built receptacle eliminates unsafe daisy chains and overused power strips.
  • Room to grow: Properly planned circuits create flexibility for future projects or added equipment.

Reliable Outdoor Lighting and Protection

A motion-activated floodlight adds proactive safety, deters unwanted activity, and improves visibility when you return home at night. Where wiring transitions to exposed areas, our electricians use conduit and fittings designed to shield conductors from physical damage. We focus on proper support, weather-conscious routing, and tidy terminations to help fixtures operate reliably through the seasons.

Code-Conscious Workmanship You Can Trust

Touchstone Electric follows manufacturer instructions and applicable electrical codes for the Charlotte, NC area. Our technicians evaluate panel capacity, match conductor sizes to overcurrent protection, and use listed materials for each installation step. The result is a neat, durable setup that’s ready for everyday use.
