Touchstone Electric’s Panels & Service Upgrades team completed a comprehensive Meter Base & Service Replacement in Charlotte. Our crew handled permitting, coordinated the utility outage, and installed a new 200A meter base and main service feeder to bring the home’s electrical service up to modern standards.
Scope of Work Completed
- Meter base relocation: Moved the meter to the utility-requested location and secured it to meet service clearances.
- New 200A meter base: Installed a 200-amp rated meter base with proper bonding and connections.
- Conduit to weatherhead: Ran new conduit from the meter to the weatherhead and terminated safely for a clean drip loop.
- Service entrance conductors: Installed new service entrance cable to the end of the drip loop for reliable utility connection.
- Grounding upgraded: Drove new ground rods and installed grounding electrode conductors for improved system safety.
- Main feeder replacement: Replaced the feeder from the meter to the main panel using SER 4/0 (4-wire) cable for a full 200A path.
- Permits and outage: Pulled required permits and scheduled the power drop with the utility to minimize downtime.

- 200A meter base with new service hardware and terminations
- SER 4/0 (4-wire) cable for the main feeder (approximately 100 ft)
- Conduit for the mast to weatherhead transition and secure entry
- Ground rods with copper grounding electrode conductors
