Touchstone Electric’s Charlotte branch (Matthews) partnered with Paul Kowalski Builders (PK Builders) to deliver a full lighting refresh and exterior power upgrades in Charlotte. Our licensed electricians handled everything from careful demo to final inspection, focusing on code compliance, clean finishes, and energy-efficient lighting.

This project combined recessed lighting, decorative fixtures, exterior power, and specialty LED accents to elevate comfort, curb appeal, and everyday usability throughout the home.

Scope of Work Completed

Demolished and removed outdated exterior telephone and cable boxes.
Installed four 4-inch wafer recessed can lights for low-profile, efficient overhead illumination.
Swapped in two new exterior sconces and supplied exterior-grade dimmers for flexible ambiance.
Installed a new ceiling fan on the existing box/circuit for improved air circulation.
Added new exterior outlets per plan to support everyday outdoor power needs.
Installed new LED strip lighting in crown molding to create a seamless, modern glow.
Provided and installed a dedicated 20-amp GFCI-protected circuit to support landscape equipment safely.
Secured the electrical permit and coordinated rough and final inspections with the county.

Materials, Methods, and Code Compliance

Wafer Recessed Lights: Space-saving fixtures designed for longevity and tight plenum areas, providing even, energy-efficient light.
Dimmers and Switching: Installed new dimmers for the sconces and recessed lighting along with a standard switch to improve control and mood.
LED Crown Accents: Approximately 20 feet of linear LED strip lighting installed in the crown for a sophisticated indirect effect.
New Outlets: Six standard receptacles installed with new covers and proper grounding.
Wiring: About 80 ft of NM-B 12/2 for 20-amp circuits, 50 ft of NM-B 14/2 for general lighting, and 65 ft of UF 14/2 direct-burial cable as needed for exterior applications.
Dedicated 20A GFCI Circuit: Added with a new 20-amp breaker for safe outdoor use and landscape support.
Permitting & Inspections: Electrical permit filed and coordinated for both rough and final approval to meet local code requirements.

All installations adhered to current electrical code and manufacturer specifications, including proper box fill, secure terminations, correct fastener spacing for cable runs, and verified GFCI protection where required.
