Kitchen Electrical Upgrade in Charlotte, NC

Touchstone Electric’s Charlotte branch completed a clean, code-compliant kitchen upgrade in Charlotte on April 14, 2026. Led by technician Mark Alaev, this project focused on safe outlet additions, appliance hookups, and a new dedicated circuit to power a double wall oven. Our Matthews-based team handled permitting, wiring, and panel work to deliver a neat, ready-for-inspection finish.

Scope of Work

  • Cabinet power: Made a proper junction and added an outlet inside a cabinet to safely power small appliances while keeping cords hidden.
  • Island outlet: Added a new receptacle on the kitchen island for convenient access to power during cooking and prep.
  • Above-cabinet lighting outlets: Installed two outlets above the cabinets to support lighting accents and future upgrades.
  • Appliance installations: Installed the customer-supplied cooktop and double wall oven. The cooktop wiring was already present; a new dedicated circuit was run for the double oven.
  • New dedicated 45A oven circuit: Pulled approximately 30 feet of NM-B 6/3 copper cable to supply the double oven with the correct capacity.
  • Receptacle additions: Installed five standard outlets with matching covers to serve the new locations and appliance needs.
  • 20A branch wiring: Pulled roughly 45 feet of NM-B 12/2 cable to support kitchen receptacles and ensure proper load distribution.
  • Panel upgrades: Added and labeled a 45A breaker for the double oven and a 30A double-pole breaker for the cooktop, matching manufacturer and code requirements.
  • Permitting: Filed the electrical permit with the county for inspection. Note: the permit covers electrical scope only; any non-electrical permits required by a jurisdiction are separate.

Why This Upgrade Matters

Kitchen appliances demand correctly sized wiring and breakers to operate safely and reliably. By installing a dedicated 45-amp circuit for the double oven and verifying the cooktop’s power on a properly sized breaker, our team ensured each appliance has the capacity it needs. New outlets on the island and above the cabinets add convenience for cooking, lighting, and future upgrades—without relying on extension cords or unsafe tap connections.

All work was performed to current electrical standards for Charlotte, with neat routing, secure terminations, and clear labeling at the panel to streamline inspections and future service.

Materials and Professional Touch

  • Customer-supplied major appliances installed in accordance with manufacturer guidelines.
  • NM-B 6/3 copper for the oven run and NM-B 12/2 for 20A receptacle circuits, sized for the application.
  • New panel breakers matched to appliance loads for safe operation.
  • Five new receptacles installed with proper boxes, covers, and mounting.
  • County electrical permit filed by our Charlotte team for a smooth, documented finish.

From routing cable to panel terminations, technician Mark Alaev delivered a tidy, professional installation homeowners can count on.
