What We Installed
To increase safety and reliability across multiple spaces, we installed a 20-amp GFCI breaker and extended the branch circuit with 50 feet of 12/2 NM-B wiring. This configuration offers robust protection and consistent 20-amp performance for outlets that may be exposed to moisture or heavy use.
- GFCI Breaker (20A): Provides ground-fault protection at the panel for downstream receptacles serving the bathroom, dining room, laundry room, garage, home exterior/outside, crawl spaces, and basements.
- 12/2 NM-B Romex (50 ft): Sized for 20-amp circuits commonly used for kitchen appliances, power outlets, and other higher-current devices. Junction boxes are included as needed to ensure clean, organized transitions.
GFCI protection is designed to reduce the risk of electrical shock by quickly interrupting power when a ground fault is detected. Pairing this protection with properly sized 12-gauge wiring helps maintain stable performance across the circuit.
How This Upgrade Benefits Your Home
- Enhanced safety: Whole-circuit GFCI protection from the panel helps safeguard outlets in areas where water, dust, or outdoor exposure may occur.
- Consistent power delivery: 12/2 NM-B wiring supports the 20-amp load rating of the breaker for dependable operation of tools and appliances.
- Clear organization: The work is neatly routed and labeled at the panel, making future service straightforward.
Whether you’re updating a bathroom, laundry, or garage, a properly protected 20-amp circuit can provide the capacity and safety modern households expect.
