What We Did on This Project

Our technician, Christian Cedillos, removed aging or non-compliant piping and rebuilt the pathway with EMT conduit and new THHN conductors. The goal was to restore reliability, protect the wiring, and ensure the outlets and connected lighting or devices have a safe, stable circuit.

  • Removed outdated piping: Carefully dismantled existing piping and fittings to eliminate weak points and bring the run up to current code practices.
  • Installed EMT conduit: Added approximately 25 feet of 3/4-inch EMT, secured with proper straps and fitted with connectors and LBs as applicable for clean transitions and lasting support.
  • Pulled new THHN conductors: Routed approximately 40 feet of #14 THHN (3–4 conductors as needed) for 15-amp branch circuits serving lighting and general-purpose receptacles.
  • Added two standard receptacles: Installed and covered two new outlets for practical access to power, finished with tidy device terminations.
  • Code-focused rebuild: Completed a full remove-and-rerun effort so the conduit, wiring method, and device terminations align with current safety requirements.

After installation, we verified correct polarity, grounding continuity, and reliable operation at the new receptacles for everyday use.

Why Code-Compliant EMT and THHN Matter

Upgrading to properly installed EMT conduit and THHN conductors offers better protection and performance for your Charlotte home. EMT provides mechanical protection for conductors and keeps the wiring pathway organized and accessible for future service. THHN #14 is commonly used on 15-amp circuits that supply lighting and general-purpose outlets, offering dependable insulation and clear identification for safe terminations.

  • Safety and durability: Rigid, well-supported EMT reduces abrasion and physical damage to wires.
  • Clean routing: Correct connectors, couplings, and LBs create secure transitions and neat, code-ready bends.
  • Reliable operation: Fresh conductors and tight terminations help minimize nuisance issues like flicker, heat at devices, or intermittent power.

Whether you’re addressing aging metal piping or preparing for additional outlets, a professionally installed conduit system helps ensure long-term safety and efficiency.
