Touchstone Electric’s Charlotte team, operating from our Matthews branch, completed a comprehensive electrical panel upgrade and full remodel wiring project in Charlotte for Walsh Crawl Space & Structural Repair. Completed on July 9, 2026, this project combined a 200-amp main panel replacement with extensive kitchen, living room, laundry, and bathroom updates—bringing the home in line with current NEC and local codes.

200A Electrical Panel Upgrade and Code Compliance

As a Panels & Service Upgrades specialist, our crew replaced the aging main panel with a modern 200-amp indoor panel, reorganized existing circuits, and labeled everything for clarity. We installed the required mix of standard, AFCI, and GFCI protection where applicable and removed abandoned wiring and devices.

  • Filed the electrical permit and coordinated inspections.
  • Reconnected existing circuits, grounded and bonded the new panel, and verified proper operation.
  • Tested all modified circuits and prepared the installation for final inspection.

Result: a safer, cleaner, and more serviceable panel that supports the remodel and future additions.

Kitchen Remodel Wiring and Outlet Reconfiguration

To support new cabinetry and appliances, our electricians reworked the kitchen wiring layout and added dedicated small-appliance circuits. We removed the island power (per new design) but left a whip in the crawlspace for a potential future island.

  • Relocated and added kitchen receptacles, including two new outlets and adjustments across the backsplash for the new cabinet plan.
  • Installed a receptacle adjacent to the range hood location and provided wiring for the new hood vent.
  • Added wiring for sconce lighting near the kitchen window, plus provisions for additional sconces as requested.
  • Added a dedicated receptacle for owner-supplied rope/accent lighting at the coffee bar area.
  • Ran new wiring to several kitchen outlets and relocated dish/disposal wiring for the redesigned layout.

Living Room Lighting and Controls

We transformed the living room with modern, energy-efficient recessed wafer lighting and refined controls to match the new layout.

  • Installed recessed can lighting throughout the living room, including additional cans for enhanced coverage.
  • Modified fireplace can lights and placed them on a dedicated dimmer for flexible ambiance.
  • Installed a receptacle above the fireplace for a mounted television.
  • Prepped for a homeowner-supplied chandelier on a new switch compatible with a smart dimmer.

Upstairs Laundry and Closet Additions

For the relocated laundry, we completed rough-in and final wiring, including properly sized branch circuits for the washer and dryer. We also moved lighting and controls to suit the new layout and added a new switch and light in an adjacent closet for convenience.

Bathroom Upgrades: Primary, Jack & Jill, and Pool Bath

Our Secondary category expertise in electrical panel upgrades extends into trim work and lighting control that bring rooms together safely and beautifully.

  • Primary bathroom: installed approximately six recessed wafer lights; relocated vanity lighting boxes and switching.
  • Jack & Jill bath: added boxes and wiring for new vanity lights and wall sconces; updated switching and branch circuits.
  • Pool bath: installed a new vanity receptacle, provided wiring for a future vanity light, and added an exhaust fan circuit as required by final design.

EV Charger Ready: Future-Proof Rough‑In

We provided an EV charger rough-in, including conduit pathway and wiring provisions, so the homeowner can add a vehicle charger later without opening finished walls.

Safety, Cleanup, and Final Details

  • Replaced outdated outlets and switches throughout much of the home with modern, tamper-resistant devices.
  • Relocated outlets, switches, and lighting circuits to align with the final renovation layout.
  • Removed unused/abandoned devices, including an outdated alarm box, and securely capped or terminated conductors per code.
  • Installed three updated bathroom exhaust fan housings and completed necessary ductwork adjustments to tie into existing power.

For owner-installed fixtures, we provided code-compliant rough-ins, terminated conductors, and left blank covers where fixtures will be set later—ensuring everything is ready for the final inspection.
