Our Charlotte branch, based in Matthews, completed a clean, code-compliant lighting and fan upgrade for a homeowner in Indian Land, SC. The project focused on comfort, safety, and style—adding modern recessed wafer lighting and installing multiple ceiling fans to improve airflow and illumination throughout the home.

What we completed

  • Ceiling fan installation: Installed eight customer-supplied ceiling fans on existing boxes and circuits for reliable circulation and integrated lighting where applicable.
  • Wafer can lighting: Added four ultra-thin wafer can lights—ideal for tight or shallow ceiling spaces—to deliver crisp, even light without the bulk of traditional recessed cans.
  • Interior lighting runs: Pulled new NM-B Romex 14/2 wiring (15-amp rated) to support the added fixtures and ensure dependable performance.
  • Exterior/sub-surface feed: Installed UF 14/2 direct-burial cable with code-compliant installation practices, including appropriate burial depth and GFCI protection where required.
  • Neat, protected routing: Used 1/2" PVC conduit with the necessary fittings and supports to protect conductors and keep transitions tidy and accessible.
  • Skilled manpower: An additional electrician assisted to maintain efficiency and safety across the scope of work.
  • Quality check and cleanup: All fixtures were tested for correct operation, and the work areas were left clean and orderly.

Safe, code-compliant wiring

Touchstone Electric follows National Electrical Code best practices for every installation. For this project, NM-B 14/2 cable was used on 15-amp lighting circuits, with proper support, connectors, and junction boxes as needed. The UF 14/2 direct-burial run was installed to meet depth and protection requirements, and GFCI protection was applied where the code calls for it. Where conductors required added protection or transitions, we installed 1/2" PVC conduit with appropriate fittings to preserve longevity and serviceability.

The result is a neat, orderly installation that’s built for dependable operation and easier maintenance down the road.
