The home needed new switching and proper fan support at the center of four rooms. To accomplish this, our electrician ran new switch legs and installed fan-rated boxes where needed to safely support ceiling fans and lights. Because the wiring path had to be routed through finished walls and ceilings, some careful drywall (Sheetrock) cuts were required. We planned the layout to minimize openings and kept all cuts neat and ready for patching.
Once the new wiring was in place, we mounted and connected the homeowner’s ceiling fans and light fixtures. We also removed a set of old or unneeded devices—switches and outlets—in select living areas and bedrooms to streamline the layout. Finally, we replaced a failed GFCI receptacle to restore required protection in a sensitive area, then verified proper operation of all new devices and fixtures.
Materials and Tasks Completed
- 4x Fixture Install (Simple: Ceiling Fan, light): Installed customer-supplied fans/lights on existing circuits and new fan boxes where needed.
- 60 ft NM-B Romex 14/2: Routed new 14/2 cabling for switch legs to deliver switched power from wall controls to the center of each room.
- 5x Custom Tasks – Device Deletions: Removed select switches/outlets in the living room and bedrooms as requested.
- 1x GFCI Receptacle: Replaced a bad GFCI with a new unit and confirmed correct line/load orientation and test/reset function.
- Fan-Rated Boxes: Installed fan-rated boxes to provide secure, code-appropriate support for ceiling fans at the room centers.
- Testing & Verification: Checked switch operation, fixture function, GFCI protection, and confirmed clean terminations at connections.
