Reliable Battery Backup Transfer Panel and Subpanel Installation in Lewisville, NC
Touchstone Electric’s Matthews-based Charlotte team completed a clean, code-compliant installation of a customer-supplied transfer panel and new subpanel for John Jackman in Lewisville, NC. Led by technician Christian Cedillos, this project ensures selected home circuits can operate on battery backup during a utility outage, with safe, seamless switching thanks to an automatic transfer switch. Completed on October 11, 2024, the work falls under our Panels & Service Upgrades and Subpanel Installation services.
What We Installed
- Customer-supplied transfer panel configured with dedicated backup circuits for essential loads.
- New subpanel to organize backup and non-backup circuits for straightforward maintenance and expansion.
- Automatic transfer switch (ATS) for hands-free switchover between utility power and battery backup.
- Circuit extensions: 130 ft of NM-B 14/2 for general-purpose and lighting circuits, and 15 ft of NM-B 10/3 for 240V, 30-amp branch circuits.
- Breakers installed: four 15-amp standard breakers for branch circuits and lighting, one 30-amp double-pole breaker for 240V loads, and one 40-amp standard breaker for higher-demand circuits as applicable.
- Electrical permit filed with the county to ensure the work meets local requirements and inspection standards.
Every connection was neatly routed, labeled, and tested to verify correct operation on both utility power and battery backup.
Why This Setup Matters for Your Home
- Outage readiness: Keeps key lighting, outlets, and selected 120/240V circuits energized when the grid goes down.
- Safety and compliance: Proper isolation prevents backfeeding and supports inspection-ready installations.
- Load management: A dedicated subpanel and ATS simplify choosing and balancing which circuits receive backup power.
- Future flexibility: Labeled, organized panels make it easier to add or adjust circuits as your needs evolve.
