Bathroom Vent Fan and Lighting Upgrade in Mount Ulla, NC
Touchstone Electric’s Charlotte team (Matthews branch) completed a permitted bathroom ventilation and lighting project for Re-Bath Charlotte in Mount Ulla, NC. On June 8, 2026, our technician Chris Rogers installed a new exhaust fan with integrated can light, added a dedicated shower can light, upgraded switching with a dimmer, and installed two new light fixtures along with both GFCI and standard outlets.
What We Installed
- Exhaust fan with can light: Mounted and wired a new vent fan that also provides overhead illumination.
- Shower can light: Added a wet-location can light to brighten the shower area.
- Two light fixtures: Installed customer-supplied fixtures on existing boxes/circuits.
- Dimmer switch: Installed a compatible dimmer for adjustable ambiance.
- New outlets: One GFCI-protected receptacle for bathroom safety and one standard outlet where appropriate.
- Electrical permit: Filed the electrical permit with the county to ensure compliance.
How We Completed the Work
To provide safe, reliable power where needed, we extended the existing lighting circuit for the second fixture and the shower can using approximately 20 ft of NM-B 14/2 cable. For receptacle needs, we ran approximately 20 ft of NM-B 12/2 cable to support appropriate bathroom outlet requirements. All terminations, grounding, and device installations were performed to current code standards.
The exhaust fan/can light combo and the new shower can light were integrated neatly with the existing layout to deliver even, glare-free illumination. The dimmer provides smooth level control, ideal for relaxing baths or late-night routines, while the new GFCI outlet adds essential shock protection in a moisture-prone area.
